17-4PH also is called as Nr. 1.4542 (DIN EN X5CrNiCuNb16-4) or UNS S17400.
17-4PH is a martensitic, precipitation-hardening stainless steel, known for its wide range of mechanical properties through low-temperature heat treatment (aging), because it contains rich elements, Cr, Ni, Cu and Nb/Ta.
17-4PH powder produced by gas atomization, but also can by PREP for better sphericity and lower hollow particles, typically is used in additive manufacturing, particularly Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and electron bean melting.
Its As-printed parts can be further strengthened by aging to reach tensile strength exceeding 1300MPa and hardness up to 40HRC, while retaining good ductility.
