2507 duplex stainless steel can be hot-worked between 1875°F and 2250°F (approximately 1024°C to 1232°C).
After hot working, solution annealing should be performed at 1925°F (about 1052°C) followed by rapid air or water cooling.
Cold working of 2507 duplex stainless steel can be done using most common forming methods for most of stainless steel. Due to its higher yield strength of the alloy and lower ductility than austenitic steels, higher forming forces and increased bend radii may be required for cold forming.
Processes such as deep drawing and drawing forming are more difficult to perform on 2507 than on austenitic stainless steels. When more than 10% cold deformation is required, solution annealing and quenching are recommended.
Wärmebehandlung
After both hot and cold forming, 2507 should be solution annealed and quenched. Solution annealing should be performed at least 1925°F (about 1052°C).
Rapid air or water cooling quenching should be carried out immediately after annealing. For maximum corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and rinsed.
Schweißeignung
2507 has good weldability and can be connected to itself or other materials by shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), tungsten argon arc welding (GTAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), flux-cored wire (FCW) or submerged arc welding (SAW).
It is recommended to use 2507/P100 filler metal for welding, as it will produce a proper duplex welding seam structure.
When welding, don’t need to preheat 2507 unless it is necessary to prevent condensation on cold metal. The weld gap temperature should not exceed 300°F (approximately 149°C) as this may adversely affect the integrity of the weld.
When welding, it should be protected with argon or 90% N2/10% H2 purge gas for maximum corrosion resistance.
Fields of application
2507 duplex stainless steel is widely used in industries such as chemical, marine, paper, energy, and construction due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high strength.
Chemische Zusammensetzung
The chemical composition of 2507 duplex stainless steel is characterized by a high proportion of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen, which together provide excellent corrosion resistance and strength.
Physikalische Eigenschaften
The material has higher yield and tensile strength than traditional austenitic stainless steels, while maintaining good ductility and toughness.
Korrosionsbeständigkeit
Due to its duplex microstructure, 2507 duplex stainless steel can be used in a variety of corrosive environments, including acidic, alkaline, and neutral chloride environments.
