The German equivalent to AISI/SAE 1045 steel is primarily C45 (Material Number 1.0503) or CK45 (Material Number 1.1191), which are medium-carbon engineering steels. Known for good machinability and high strength, these steels are widely used for shafts, gears, pins, and automotive components requiring, greater strength than low-carbon steel, with a tensile strength of 550–700 MPa and hardness of 160-190HB.
