4340 Low Alloy Steel Powder

The closest German equivalent to AISI/SAE 4340 steel is 34CrNiMo6 (Material Number 1.6582. Its UNS number is G43400. 4340 is medium-carbon, which can be quenced and tempered and it includes nickel-chromium-molybdenum, designed for high strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance. 

4340 can reach a tensile strength up to 1538 MPa in As-fabricated status of LPBF (200W laser powder, 600mm/s scan speed). Its mechanical properties vary significantly with heat treatment condition after LPBF. It is also widly used for DED to produce high strength structural components and MIM for high volume production of complex precise parts. 

Our 4340 powder is produced by gas atomization process to get a spherical morphology that provides good flow characteristics and high packing density. The common particle size range includes 0-25um, 15-45um, 15-53um, 20-63um, 45-105um or 53-150um.
