It\u2019s a precisely controlled process designed to make the two strengthening mechanisms \u201creact\u201d with each other, producing a synergistic effect. The core logic unfolds in three key stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a. Solution treatment in the \u03b2-phase region:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u03b2 titanium alloy is first heat-treated at a specific high temperature. By controlling the cooling rate, researchers can tailor the volume fraction, size, and distribution of the primary \u03b1 phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Plastic deformation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Processes like cold rolling are applied to break up the primary \u03b1 phase and refine the \u03b2 grains, while introducing a high density of dislocations and subgrain boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c. Final aging treatment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dislocations and other lattice defects created earlier serve as preferential sites for secondary \u03b1-phase nucleation. This leads to a fine, dispersed \u03b1 phase, significantly boosting alloy strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a finer \u03b1 phase increases hardness but often reduces ductility. Thus, fine-tuning the heat treatment parameters to balance the size, volume fraction, and distribution of precipitates becomes the key to achieving an optimal strength\u2013ductility ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After deformation, the grains are refined and dislocations increase, providing sufficient nucleation points for the \u03b1 phase, and both the yield strength and fracture strength increase sharply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During aging processes, grain boundaries, phase boundaries, and dislocations within materials act as \u201cenergy highlands,\u201d providing two critical
